His profile

Elie Gesbert certainly made a strong start in his first season as a rider in a pro team. It was on home soil that he claimed his first victory on the professional circuit in the Tour de Bretagne. This native of the Cotes d’Armor went on to deliver good results and earned his slot for the Tour de France. On his birthday, the youngest member of the peloton was first to take off on the Dusseldorf time trial. Elie rode assertively, was awarded the jersey for most combative rider at the end of the 10th stage, and found the strength to attack during the third week to post a Top 10 result. Three weeks later, the Breton rider distinguished himself in the Tour du Limousin: he won the first stage and wore the leader’s jersey right up till the last day, but was ultimately deprived of overall victory by one place by Alexis Vuillermoz.

Last year, he rode his second Tour de France alongside Warren Barguil, which helped him gain experience and improve. At the beginning of 2019, Elie got a significant result on the Tour of Oman when he finshed fifth stage to end up fifth overall and best young rider.

In his own three words: Shy, impatient, a dreamer
