“There is inevitably a feeling of frustration which predominates at the end of this edition of Ghent-Wevelgem. The instructions were applied to the letter by the riders. Mathis Le Berre once again took the breakaway. We knew that it was important to have someone in front with the return and the three-quarter tail wind which was going to trigger borders. This was indeed the case. We had Mathis and Luca Mozzato in the first border, Arnaud Démare came back afterwards. A At the exit of the Kemmel, the ARKEA-B&B HOTELS team was then represented within the peloton by our two leaders. Unfortunately, 20 km from the finish, at the exit of Ypres, Arnaud rolled into a hole in the road. He breaks through. It comes when the hardest part was done and also at the time when there were breaks and the marshals made roadblocks. Arnaud did not manage to get back. He had, and gave himself, the means to be in front . We are disappointed for him. Luca is present in the peloton for third place. He finished 15th. He is disappointed with his sprint because he gets locked up. We are not paid up to the commitment that the entire ARKEA-B&B HOTELS team has made in this competition. What I want to remember above all, from this whole day, is the state of mind of the group.”
