“It was a difficult race, especially because of the passage in a sinuous bump, the pace slowed down and some riders started again very quickly to create a break. The traffic jam forced some riders to put their feet down and it was difficult to get back on the road. It never came back. With Lukasz we were in this group with most of the Bora and DSM riders, so it was strategically complicated to manoeuvre. I have a little regret personally in the last climb where 3 of us went out, we came back very close, 50m from the three breakaways who had taken a lead in the last kilometres, but we didn’t come back. We will take the positive side, I am at the front, even if I had a difficult week with stomach problems. Maybe I didn’t have enough energy, but it’s always good to make efforts like these for the next stage.”

“We will say that it is satisfying. The breakaway was made on a rather particular move, in a bump on a narrow part. There was a slowing down at the head of the peloton all of a sudden. The result was a big mishap in the peloton, a lot of riders were dropped and in the end, 26 of them escaped from this mishap. Matis was stuck and didn’t manage to make the jump, I would have liked to have one or two more riders in this group. Lukasz went flat on his back in the counter group where Hugo was also present. When the decision was made, he stayed within 10 m of the three breakaways and just missed the good final move.”
