Alan Riou: "Binche-Chimay-Binche, I have good memories of it”
Recent winner of the C44, Alan Riou will follow up tomorrow with Binche-Chimay-Binche.
Binche-Chimay-Binche is divided into two parts, with at the beginning an online part. When we passed Chimay on the ascent to Binche we passed a few Monts which use the organisms a little. Following a circuit, there is a short but painful paved climb, followed by a flat part and the finish is slightly downhill on a small road. This part is part of the circuit and behind the finish descent we take a long asphalt climb. This makes the final muscular. I competed in this event as a trainee and once in the pros, I made the top 20, it was during a season during which I had a lot of worries. I was then part of the group that fought for victory».

“Binche-Chimay-Binche belongs to the heritage of Belgian semi-classics with cobblestones and a beautiful finish. I hope that our Flemish riders who competed in Paris-Roubaix on Sunday, Benjamin, Christophe and Bram, will have recovered from their efforts on this classic. Their legs might be a bit sore at the beginning of the race, but after that it will probably get better. In any case, they won’t be the only ones to do both races. Here, we have a great team with Alan, Matîs who also has the ability to perform in this kind of race, and it will also be the first race under our colours for the 2021 season for Kévin Vauquelin, who is a trainee for the second year in a row in our team and who will be joining us in 2022”.
