Amaury Capiot: "I hope to do better than in 2021

The 1969 Clasica Communitat Valenciana marks the beginning of the cycling season in Europe. This event will count on the presence of the Arkéa-Samsic team among the riders entered, including Amaury Capiot who took 3rd place last year in this competition.

Pre-race statement

The 1969 Clasica Communitat Valenciana was the first race I rode in 2021 under the Arkéa-Samsic jersey. The race had been shortened in terms of kilometres due to an increase in the Covid pandemic. This year it has been reduced to 175 km, which is a good thing. The course offers a few difficulties, including the Rates pass, and another one listed about 50-60 kilometres from the finish. Nevertheless, I think that this race will end in a bunch sprint. I am motivated for this new season which starts for me with the Clasica Communitat Valenciana. Last year, I finished third here, which was not bad, but I think I had the possibility to win this race. I was getting used to the team with my new team-mates. I hope to do better on Sunday than I did in 2021″.

Briefing

“The main difficulties of the Clasica Communitat Valenciana are at the beginning of the race, in the first 50 kilometres, after which the riders will ride on flat roads to get back to Valencia. The race scenarios can be of two kinds: either a massive sprint or the victory can be decided between a strong group that will have broken away at the first difficulties. If all the teams are represented in this breakaway, it can go all the way. However, the probability of a sprint remains high, even if the field is already strong in this first competition of the season. We, the Arkéa-Samsic team, have some good cards to play with Amaury Capiot, Clément Russo, Donavan Grondin and Alan Riou, who can either get into the race or bet on a final sprint“.
