Anthony Delaplace: "The Polynormande, a race with multiple scenarios”

Pre-race

“The Polynormande is “THE” professional race in the Channel, where I live, so I am highly motivated every time I start. It is a race with multiple scenarios. Sprint finishes are rare, it has only happened once. You always have to be vigilant and concentrated during the whole race because the good move can start as soon as the 15th kilometre with a big group of riders, but the decision can also be made at mid-race or in the last laps. All strategies are possible on this event, which is dear to Daniel Mangeas, the voice of cycling in France. I am always motivated on this competition because it corresponds to my profile. I am playing at home. We are lining up with a good Arkéa-Samsic team. I won it once, the Polynormande, and I remember that when I won it, I was at one point in a breakaway with Arnaud Gérard…”

“The Polynormande is often conducive to movement. The riders first cover twenty-three kilometres in a row, then they go on with the Polynormande circuit. This is a very tiring race, with two climbs offered, which are close to each other. The roads used are not very wide and rather “pulling”. We are entering a team from Arkéa-Samsic in this race that will be on the offensive, and if things move on Sunday, it won’t be to our disadvantage, even Thomas Boudat, who is more of a sprinter, is capable of launching himself into a breakaway. The charm of this race is that it is open and difficult to control.”
