Clément Russo: "I would be proud to represent France”

Pre-selected for the world championships in Leuven by Thomas Voeckler, Clément Russo says he is motivated by the upcoming races, starting with the Flanders Championship tomorrow

Pre-race

“I like the races in Belgium, the atmosphere that reigns in this country with this fervour for our sport, cycling. I like the courses offered in Belgium, the way the races there are run. I don’t know the Flanders Championship and it will be a discovery for me. I have been preselected by Thomas Voeckler, the manager of the French men’s team within the FFC, for the World Championship in Leuven, so this could be a great opportunity for me to compete in a World Championship. It is not given to everyone, so it would be a chance and a pride for me to be at the start of this World Championship in Belgium in order to be at the service of great riders such as Julian. It gives me extra motivation for the races that follow. I have already worn the jersey of the French team in cyclo-cross, and I know how proud it is to have such colours on my back, but it has never happened to me on the road, so it would represent something very strong for me, especially as France will field a great French team at this world championships, with the means to achieve great performances, so it would be nice to be part of this great adventure that is coming up ».
