Connor Swift and Élie Gesbert' start of season programme
With Connor Swift and Élie Gesbert taking on more and more responsibility in 2022, here is an outline of their early season programme.
Élie Gesbert’s programme
Arnaud Gérard, Directeur-sportif: “Élie will start his 2022 season at the Trofeo de Mallorca and the Tour of Oman, an event where the overall classification will be important for us, and where he has already performed well. Elie has had a good season in 2021, and the beginning of 2022 will be quite dense with one-day races in Italy, and in particular the discovery of a World-Tour race such as the Strade Bianche, and then the Vuelta Ciclista a Catalunya where he will have an important role to play with Nairo Quintana”.
Trofeo Mallorca (26 to 30 January), Spain
Tour of Oman (10 to 15 February), Sultanate of Oman
Classic de la Drôme (27 February), France
Trofeo Laigueglia (2 March), Italy
Strade Bianche (5 March), Italy
Vuelta Ciclista Catalunya (21 to 27 March), Spain
Connor Swift’s programme
Sébastien Hinault’s analysis: “The Etoile de Bessèges has a more selective course this season and still has that terminal time that can serve Connor’s purposes. He must now express his potential as a classics rider, which is why he also has three stage races to compete in before these dates: Bessèges, Algarve and Tirreno-Adriatico. This will give him the opportunity to tackle the first 2022 World Tour classics on his programme: Het Nieuwsblad, Strade Bianche and Milan-San-Remo, before moving on to other such events. Connor has the potential to perform well in one-day races”.
Grand Prix de la Marseillaise (30 January), France
Etoile de Bessèges (2-6 February), France
Jaèn Paraiso Interior (14 February), Spain
Volta Ao Algarve (16 to 20 February), Portugal
Omloop Het Nieuwsblad (26 February), Belgium
Strade Bianche (5 March), Italy
Tirreno-Adriatico (7 to 13 March), Italy
Milan-San-Remo (19 March), Italy
