Costiou, Thierry and Clynhens to be 2022 trainees

Ewen Costiou, Pierre Thierry and Toon Clynhens will be the 2022 trainees of the Arkéa-Samsic team. Yvon Caër and Arnaud Gérard, who manage the training cycle programme within our team, introduce them to us.

Ewen Costiou

Ewen has completed several training courses within the Arkéa-Samsic training programme,” notes Arnaud Gérard. He will join our team on 1 January 2023, and our objective is to allow him to take his first steps in the pros through this training course, which will be both a time of discovery and learning. He is a puncheur with great qualities. He will undoubtedly compete in one-day events.

Pierre Thierry

“Pierre is a very good rouleur. He demonstrated this at the recent French Championships, when he finished 3rd in the amateur category. He is a young rider”, says Yvon Caër. He has to finish his learning phase before joining us, he has a profile similar to that of Thibault Guernalec when the latter was a trainee with us. Pierre will have a light schedule. He is coming out of the junior ranks so the aim is to go slowly with him. He should mainly take part in one-day events.

Toon Clynhens

Toon is a young Belgian rider of 21 years old”, says Arnaud Gérard.  In 2021 he finished 3rd in the under 23 Peace Race, 6th this season in the same event, while taking 2nd place in the second stage. He is a climber. We will adapt his calendar to his qualities, of course. He is part of the Arkéa-Samsic team’s training cycle, and was already in training in Corsica with us last spring”.
