Dan McLay: "Sprints on big roads”

This year’s again race in Saudi Arabia offers many opportunity of sprint finishes.

Pre-race

I will race the Saudi Tour for the second time in my career, I think that this 2022 edition can produce sprints, two or three of them will suit me, especially because in Saudi Arabia the stage finishes are on big straight roads, which suits me quite well, after that many teams will be present with their sprinters and their trains to take them. In any case, it is a race that can correspond to me. I think that on this kind of race it is above all the timing that counts, I also think that the course will be different from the 2020 edition, so we will have to see if the wind can also change the cards on certain stages, but really what is essential on big roads like these is to be in the right timing in the sprint“.

Le briefing

The Saudi Tour route for this 2022 edition offers several stages for sprinters. The backbone of the Arkéa-Samsic team involved in this competition in the Persian Gulf has been built with this in mind, with sprinter Dan McLay, who has demonstrated his ability to win races of this type on numerous occasions. The competition will be tough, we don’t underestimate it, but we have ambitions”.
