French Championship : Warren Barguil 4th
Our cyclist finished 4th in the French Championship in Cholet.
“This is the third time I finish 4th in a French Championship (2015-2021 and 2022), so I am obviously disappointed. At 4 kilometers, I made a very big effort to try to get back. At that moment, I didn’t calculate. I think that this effort weighed on the end of the race. In the sprint, the other runners are faster than me. Nevertheless, I think my legs are good. I’m coming out of training in the Pyrenees, and I’m approaching the Tour de France with serenity.”
“We had to harden up to hope to win the race to avoid a bunch sprint. We knew Warren’s breakaway was possible. He came up against someone stronger than him, so there’s not too much to be surprised about, even though we were necessarily hoping for a podium or even better.”
