“The battle was launched very early on in this Milan-San-Remo, from the Cipressa onwards with an alto rhythm imposed by the UAE and Jumbo Visma teams of Pogacar and Wout Van Aert. The puncheurs accelerated in order to eliminate as many sprinters as possible, and they succeeded. Nacer lost contact at this point. The Poggio was also climbed at breakneck speed. Nacer finished 27th in this first monument of the season and second in the sprint of this second peloton with a lot of sprinters in it“.
