Nacer Bouhanni: "Milan-San-Remo still a goal”

“I have always loved Milan-San-Remo, it was the classic I used to watch all the time on TV when I was younger. I think it is the one that suits me the most, and every year I prepare it. It’s clear that in the last few seasons it’s been more the puncheurs who have won, but like any trend it can be reversed in favour of the sprinters. The judge of peace is often the Poggio, the last capo of the day before the descent to the finish, and my “reference point” on this climb, as for many riders, is the famous phone box at the top of this hill”.

« J’ai effectué une reconnaissance de Milan-San-Remo le lundi suivant Paris-Nice, et j’ai fait les 55 derniers kilomètres de course, les plus importants. C’était important car ce sera ma première participation à Milan-San-Remo cette année, j’ai pu voir les capi du final, les descentes de la Cipressa et du Poggio sont techniques, et j’ai pu mémoriser les points cruciaux de certains endroits de cette classique, ainsi et le placement que cela devrait nécessiter en course. Le temps passé sur le vélo rendra les dernières difficultés difficiles, et le placement sur la fin du Poggio sera bien évidemment primordial ».

“I did a reconnaissance of Milan-San-Remo on the Monday after Paris-Nice, and I rode the last 55 kilometres of the race, the most important ones.
