On the line

“The objective of the day was not to get into a breakaway, even if I was late in the general classification this morning, but to stay in contact with the best riders on this stage that finished at the top of the Loge des Gardes. In the end, I am not that far, now it remains to be seen how the next few days will go and how I will recover. It was an important first meeting, but it is important to remain humble in front of the opponents. The work of the team is very satisfying once again, because we have been preparing for this arrival for several days. I want to salute once again the work of all my team-mates, especially Matîs Louvel who was very strong during the whole stage and who accompanied me very far. Michel Ries too, as well as Thibault Guernalec who gave 100%, and Dan McLay and David Dekker when it was wendy. Tonight we don’t have too many regrets, if any at all

The debrief’

“We are satisfied with this stage and with the attitude of the whole team, which was concluded in a very good way by Kévin Vauquelin. He rode a very high level climb. He is a young rider who never ceases to amaze us, we still don’t know where his limits are. He is only 21 years old, we must not forget that. Kevin didn’t make any placement mistakes, but if he had finished 5th at the top of the Loge des Gardes, I would have signed with both hands this morning. The next big event now will be the Couillole, and I am looking forward to see what it will be like, while keeping my feet on the ground and continuing to take the stages of this Paris-Nice one after the other”.
