Roger Tréhin: "Burgos, a very high level”

Burgos and its traditional “Vuelta”, the region from which the next Tour of Spain will start, have been taken by storm this year by the World-Tour teams. “This race will be a daily classic for us”, warns Roger Tréhin.

Pre-race

“I have already competed in the Vuelta de Burgos but a few seasons ago. There will be a high level of competition this year, because the region will host the start of the Vuelta in a few days. A lot of World-Tour teams are engaged in this competition which will serve as a test before the Tour of Spain. Yesterday Gexto was very fast and this week I think it will be the same. This event will be a test for me to see where I stand against the competition. There is also a stage that I want to ride hard, if I have a chance, and try to ride this stage at 200%, and then I will be at the service of the team. My goal is to come out of this Vuelta a Burgos in a good shape in order to be in a better condition for the next races”.

Roger Tréhin, Sport-Director
the briefing
“The general classification of this Vuelta de Burgos will be played out between high level climbers and riders who will probably aim for the Vuelta classification. This Vuelta de Burgos, which will be held in the region where the 2021 Tour of Spain will start, will be a preparation race for the riders who will race this Grand Tour. We will approach this race as if it was a daily classic. We will have to show a fighting spirit. We will have to be inspired by what Matîs Louvel did in the Vuelta a Castilla y Léon. We have to start with a positive mindset and move forward”.
