Roger Tréhin: "Denain, a foretaste of the cobbles of the North”

Tomorrow’s Grand Prix de Denain will be a kind of mini rehearsal of the Enfer du Nord, just a few days before the start of the big classic in Roubaix.

Pre-race

“I hope that tomorrow’s race will be hard with twelve cobbled sectors in the final laps. We also have possibilities for the sprint with Dan and Bram. I am feeling better and better physically. I’m coming into the race in good shape and I’m building up to it. I think that racing in the Primus Classic was good for me physically, and yesterday in the Grand Prix of Isbergues I worked for the team. I hope that my condition will improve in the coming weeks in order to get good results individually and collectively for the Arkéa-Samsic team.

The Briefing

“The Grand Prix de Denain has twelve cobbled sectors for a total of 21 kilometres on this type of road, and this during the last hundred kilometres. There is a big field for this 2021 edition of the Grand Prix of Denain with eleven World-Tour riders at the start, the most likely scenario for this race is a finish in small groups, or a solo finish like Van Der Poël did when he won here. I think there will be a lot of racing in this event, which offers a taste of the cobbles of the North”.
