Thibault Guernalec: "It validates my work and reassures me physically. "

Thibault Guernalec and Connor Swift finished respectively 6th and 10th in the time trial stage of the Baloise Belgium Tour. Connor is now in 6th place in the provisional general classification of this competition.

This sixth place validates the work I did recently during a training camp in the Pyrenees, and reassures me because I didn’t know where I stood physically. It is also interesting before the French Championship next week in Épinal. The small point of disappointment is to be so close to the podium, at only three seconds. This time will help me in the future because it was a flat course, with only two or three turns, not technical, and it is not necessarily the type of time trial that suits me. To get a result reassures me in my progression, especially as there was a good density of rouleurs in this competition. There was no race management to be done, it was all about blocking”.

DÉBRIEF’
Connor did a good time and Thibault a very good one. I think that Connor maybe didn’t start fast enough because he loses three seconds on the first four kilometres compared to Thibault, in his defence the difficult stage of the day before had probably left some marks. This probably had an effect on him, but he did very well because he finished the time-trial in tenth position and is now 6th in the provisional overall classification of this Baloise Belgium Tour. Thibault is 6th of the time trial against a big competition of Pro-Tour riders. He continues his progression in a linear way, but still has a lot of room for improvement. Thibault is working hard on this discipline that he loves, progressing, taking more and more reference points and this is also a good omen for the French Championships next week”.
