On a course for strong riders, Thibault Guernalec finished 17th of the 1st stage of Tirreno-Adriatico, only six seconds behind the top ten.

« Thibault a passé un cap sur ce type d’effort si particulier et notamment face aux vrais spécialistes de chrono tout plat qui réclament énormément de puissance. Ici, c’était un chrono de « bourrins » (sic !) si l’on peut s’exprimer ainsi, il n’y avait pas trop à réfléchir et juste appuyer sur les pédales afin de faire parler la puissance ici à Lido de Camaiore. Thibault est à six secondes de la 10ème place, cela prouve sa valeur et ses progrès dans ce domaine. Il s’affirme de plus en plus en plus à ce niveau-là, dans le cercle des bons rouleurs, c’est intéressant compte tenu de son âge et de la marge de progression qu’il possède encore devant lui ».

“I had to be strong, it was a time trial for riders with a lot of power. I have made a step forward since last year, but I still need a tooth to get this top ten in a World-Tour race. I don’t think I am far from it, because here I am six seconds behind the best. I am still missing a little something, I hope to get it in the future. I am regularly ranked in the top 10 now in the proseries and in the class 1 time trials, now my goal is to get that place at the next level. I know what I have to do. I don’t need much, but I still need, as I said, that little something that will allow me to reach this goal.
