Team Arkéa-Samsic had placed two riders in the breakaway of this 10th stage of the Tour which ended at the altiport of Mègève: Hugo Hofstetter and Connor Swift, the latter being 14th. Nairo Quintana is now 12th overall, with some riders in the break having regained time.

On the line

Warren tried several times at the beginning of the stage to get into the breakaway, and when a big group of more than 20 riders comes out, it’s just after he has made a big effort. Hugo and I were closest to the front of the peloton to get into the breakaway, and we made the jump. The final of the stage was not favourable to us, but we tried to do our best. There was also this stop in the race. It was hard to have good legs afterwards, especially in the final bumps”.

“I finished this stage on the altiport of Mègève together with the other leaders in contention for the overall classification of the Tour. It was a little bit quieter than the previous days. Tomorrow will be a tough day. I have a good feeling and I hope to race with the best riders on this 11th stage and why not gain some places in the general classification”.

The debrief’

“The satisfaction is to have placed two riders in the breakaway of 25 riders who fought for the victory, afterwards it is clear that ideally we would have liked Warren to be there, but he tried many times at the beginning of the race without finding the opening. We gave ourselves the means to be there. We knew that on a finish like this it would be difficult to win. But we have shown at the beginning of the second week of the Tour that we are present. There are still two weeks to go and they will be difficult and we will continue to progress”.
