Tour de France (stage 14): Nairo Quintana still in the game

On the very hot roads of the Tour de France between Saint-Etienne and the daunting Montée de la Croix Neuve in Mende, Nairo Quintana finished with the main GC contenders.

“It’s a good result today. The team worked well all day, we were always in front. It was a very difficult day that hurt my legs but I was fine and that’s the main thing. “

“It started very, very quickly with the leaders putting on a good show, as they say in the jargon. Nairo was not alone. It was important for us that he had support. We had planned not to be in the breakaway to really be at his side and protect him. The guys did a great job around him to protect him from the wind, especially Matîs who did this job for his leader.
