Tour des Alpes-Maritimes et du Var (2nd stage), Nairo Quintana 2nd
Author of several attacks on the unprecedented climb of the col d’Èze, Nairo Quintana was caught and beaten in the sprint on the final part of this more rolling stage.

“The last climb was very hard, very explosive, and I attacked. But on the more rolling part of the final, Tim Wellens came back on me. I knew that he had more power than me in the sprint and I finished second of this stage. Now I hope to be good again tomorrow and that I can try something again. One thing is for sure, this stage was very fast and my team-mates did a great job for me”.
