“We knew that this stage could change the general classification. We knew that the riders in ambush would try to turn the race around. It was up to the Arkéa-Samsic team, but it was also up to me to be vigilant. That’s what I did. It was a good effort, as I was far behind in the general classification it wasn’t up to me to do most of the work. We concentrated on the stage, but it wasn’t easy with this flat finish. I tried to anticipate the sprint. I have no regrets. I am missing a few seconds for the podium. Tomorrow, the last stage is more difficult than in previous years. The watchword will be vigilance, and why not try to get a podium.”

“We took our responsibilities to win. Our goal is to continue to cultivate this winning culture, that’s what we wanted to do with Nicolas today. He did what he had to do, he had to try even if we knew that the two other riders were superior to him in the sprint. The race isn’t over yet, there is still one more stage to go tomorrow. Everything is possible…”
