On the line

” Anthony Pérez started very strong at the foot of the wall, I didn’t panic. I preferred to wait and make my effort at the last moment to get back to the head of the race. My wish was that everyone would work together in the final to make the gap to the other favourites. Dorian was the strongest in this stage, he even made the bonifications during the day. In the sprint, with a bit more slope, the result could have been different. I am nevertheless happy with my place even if finishing second is always a bit of a regret. I am not missing much, but Dorian was simply the strongest today. We were nevertheless able Warren Barguil: “I don’t need much”.

“From the beginning of the stage, we rode in front with all my team-mates in order to be represented in case of a breakaway. I went there, but unfortunately my group never managed to take much time. Once I was back in the peloton, I continued to help the team and in particular Warren for whom this stage was important for the win but also for the general classification. I then managed the end of the race in order to keep some energy for the days to come”.

The debrief

“Warren came very, very close to victory. It’s a shame! I think that between yesterday and today, our leader has done a perfect job. The team is there around him. I was confident about Warren’s possibilities in a finish like this. When he’s confident, when he’s in condition, this is the kind of race finish that suits him perfectly. It’s a very close call, now the Tour du Limousin-Périgord-Nouvelle Aquitaine is far from over. I believe in my team, I felt from the first day that all the riders of the Arkéa-Samsic team were united around Warren. I made them aware of the stages tomorrow and the day after. Warren is a warrior and so are his team-mates. I’m counting on everyone to go for victory in this competition. In any case, we will have to come out of this event without any regrets, but be careful, we are not yet in Limoges”.
