Alessandro Verre: "I want to serve the team"

The Trofeo Laigueglia is a beautiful Italian race that takes place on the Ligurian coast, with some nice difficulties on the programme.

Alessandro Verre

Pre-race

“I know Laigueglia very well. My goal will be to help the team, as I did on the roads of the Tour des Alpes-Maritimes and the Var, in order to help the Arkéa-Samsic team to get a good result”.

“Laigueglia is a typical Italian race with a good difference in altitude, technical descents and a very difficult final circuit with a very steep climb followed by a winding descent. The objective is to arrive in a good position on this final circuit without having spent too much energy beforehand. The bump is suitable for light riders such as Clément Champoussin, Élie Gesbert, or even Louis Barré or Ewen Costiou. My role will be that of road captain on this event”.

The briefing

“The Troféo Laigueglia is a difficult event that alternates climbs and descents, often technical. At the start of the race there is a straight section with two beautiful bumps, then a circuit with two difficulties followed by winding and narrow descents. Laigueglia is a demanding, toboggan-type race. We will have a good team with a mix of young and experienced riders, with Laurent Pichon as road captain. Élie Gesbert and Clément Champoussin have already performed well in this competition, and our objective this year will be to put them in the best possible position to perform on this event, which takes place on the famous Capo Mele on the Italian side.
