Belgium Tour (stage 4): Kévin Vauquelin secures his yellow jersey

In the heat of the Ardennes, Kévin Vauquelin, 17th of the day, secured his yellow jersey of best young rider of the Belgium Tour.

“This fourth stage of the Belgium Tour was threefold difficult because of the route and the differences in altitude, but also because of the heat wave. We managed perfectly the hydration and the food with the team staff. I felt very good all day and I think that the time trial helped me to unblock. I’m happy to be in such good condition. I tried several times in the final, but with a leader’s jersey it is always complicated. I confirm my first place in the provisional classification of the best young rider of this Belgium Tour, which is a good thing. The team did a great job for me and gave me good advices about food and hydration which, in my opinion, allowed me to finish such a stage”.

“Everything was there for the race to be difficult with this course in the foothills of the Ardennes and with the high temperatures of 35 degrees all afternoon. Kévin arrived in a peloton that included almost all the best riders. It is satisfying because he is not at 100% of his abilities. He reinforces his leader jersey of best young rider, which is not nothing in such a competition. In any case, we know that this type of race will suit him in the future. Kévin gave everything he could, he is in his place today”.
