On the line

“I always want to do better, to win races, but when you look at the two riders ahead of me: Fabio and Caleb, they are almost unbeatable since the beginning of the season. So it’s hard to win. Now my wish is to win races. I am training for that, this podium is good to gain confidence for the next races and try to win. I’ve been around 1st place since the beginning of the season. I’m still missing that little bit, and once I’ve won, maybe I’ll follow it up afterwards. There was a headwind and I saw Fabio sprinting on the right and I followed him, then Caleb launched. We caught up with the breakaway, it made a mini wave which made us lose a bit of speed with Caleb Ewan, and Jakobsen passed. That’s when the victory was decided.

Kévin Vauquelin

“I found myself at the front with eighteen other riders who were among the strongest in the race. I should have been smarter, they broke between the leaders when I wanted to skip a relay. I am just learning.. Thanks to all team for trust…”.

The debrief

“The big satisfaction is Kévin who accompanies a group of strong riders in the last climb. There were 18 of them at that moment, he takes a break. Kévin still has things to learn, he is young. In any case, he has once again shown great physical qualities, and as he is intelligent, what he has learned here will be useful in the future. We had bet on Dan in case of a sprint for the win, and it turns out that Hugo and Amaury were both in a position to make a place. It was very satisfying to have three riders in the top ten, but we were also up against Fabio Jakobsen and Caleb Ewan who are among the best sprinters in the world. We want to win, so we are not satisfied with these results, but in the end we put in a more than commendable performance in this Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne”.
