On the line

I will finish my 9th Tour de France with a broken rib, and a spot of bronchitis since a few days, but the Tour is a race that cannot be abandoned. As a rider, you throw all your strength into finishing this event and riding this final stage on the Champs-Élysées, which always brings unforgettable memories. Tonight, Nairo is 6th in the general classification of the Tour, which is a remarkable performance for him and the whole Arkéa-Samsic team”.

“Last year was horrible for me in the Tour, especially in the mountain stages, but this year the team and I made the best possible planning so that I could arrive in the best possible condition for the biggest race in the world. I have been fighting with the best in the mountains this summer and tonight I am 6th in the Tour which was the fastest in history. I have been fighting for the podium for a long time and that is what I want to remember about this 2022 edition”.

The debrief’

“We continue to write the history of the Arkéa-Samsic team. 6th tonight in the general classification of the Tour de France on the eve of the finish in Paris, that’s good news. I am also thinking about all of Nairo’s team-mates who have done a superb job alongside him for three weeks. I would almost say that for Nairo it is not a surprise to achieve such a performance because we know his qualities. His team-mates had the chance to discover what a leader is and to realize a leader on the Tour during this Tour 2022. Now we have one more stage to go, the one on the Champs-Élysées tomorrow, I still have some good cards with my sprinters but not only… I think that Nairo tomorrow will try to take the sprint to them. I am satisfied because it is a team work, a collective result and the cohesion took and that is the most important factor for me”.
