Pre-race

I will line up for the first time in my career at the start of the Grand Prix d’Indurain, which is a race for punchers and climbers. It is 200 kilometres long and has a 3600 metre climb. There is also a “wall” at the finish. It is a race that corresponds to my qualities. I was able to do a good training period at home after Tirreno-Adriatico in order to prepare the Ardennes classics as well as possible. The Grand Prix Indurain will mark the beginning of my classics campaign. Indeed, during the whole month of April I will only ride one-day races and my objective will be to achieve the best possible result in each of them. So it goes without saying that I am very motivated for the Grand Prix Indurain and the other races that are coming up. I just hope that the weather will be good this weekend, because there is a nice cold spell coming up in the next few days“.

The briefing

“The Grand Prix Indurain is a very difficult race. There are four loops to ride, and the riders will have to climb the final hump four times. Warren will be one of our trump cards. I saw that a nice field was announced. This race will allow our puncheurs-grimpeurs to put themselves in the perspective of the Ardennaises, because the climbs they will have to climb are similar to those they will encounter in Belgium. The last difficulty for example is 700 meters at an average of 11%. It’s a real puncheur-grimpeur, and that corresponds perfectly to Warren who will be well surround to get a good result”.
