Yvon Ledanois: "Nairo is 1 second away from the podium, nothing is done”

On the line

“We all knew that this stage would be difficult and this was the case because of the bad weather conditions. I tried on the last descent. I attacked, trying to catch up with some of my rivals in order to keep my place on the podium of this Tour of Catalonia. I tried, I fought but I didn’t succeed. Tomorrow will be another day”.

Yvon Ledanois, Sport-director

The debrief

“Nairo did what he had to do on this stage. He even managed to get into a group that broke away on the last technical descent, and that had taken a few seconds from the Almeida peloton. The strongest riders of the day, Carapaz and Higuita, raced ahead and took the first two places of the stage and of the overall classification. Respect. The two strongest riders were in front today. Respect! Now, I don’t want to repeat myself, but this Tour of Catalonia ends tomorrow, there is still the stage of Montjuich to be contested. We can still have surprises, with today’s stage some will recover and others a little bit less. We are confident. Tonight we are only one second away from the podium, and in my opinion, nothing is done!
