Critérium du Dauphiné (Stage 7) : Simon Guglielmi 24th

The Frenchman from Savoie was one of the actors of the 7th stage of the Critérium du Dauphiné between Saint-Chaffrey and Vaujany with notably the climbs of the Galibier and the Croix de Fer.

Simon Guglielmi

“I wanted to do well today with the passage through Savoie. My family was there. Before the Dauphiné, I had done training rides with 4,000 or 4,500 meters of positive elevation gain to be ready. Whether it was in the passes or in the descents, I really enjoyed myself. I didn’t miss much in the final, but I finished as well as I could, I gave it my all. There is one more stage tomorrow, I know that my friends will be on the climb to the plateau of Solaison. I have the heart to go back to the front but I don’t know if the physicality will follow!”

Sébastien Hiunault

“This stage wasn’t very long, but with the Lautaret and then Galibier climbs to start with there was action from start to finish. On the climb to the Croix de Fer, Groupama-FDJ started to roll, without which the outcome might have been different for Simon. Nevertheless, he enjoyed a very difficult day where he showed his climbing and descending skills. It’s by being at the front on this type of stage that you make progress.”
