“This is a great victory because there was a very good field on this Tour du Jura. It also shows that I can do great things on a dry climb. I had planned to attack in the final, in the steep part, being at full speed in the last kilometers. Everything turned out the way I wanted it to. I wanted to finish alone. It was like a time trial effort. Alessandro Verre made a great breakaway and that allowed me not to put any pedal stroke when he was in front. The Arkéa-Samsic team was solid and united. I am the winner, but this success is also the success of all of us, riders and staff. I’m happy to have been able to finalize the work that everyone put in”.
“It is a success which makes us happy. We had recognized yesterday the final of this race with Kévin and Alessandro, and in particular the ascent of the Mont Poupet. We knew that this difficulty could suit Kevin, and that the difficult weather, the rain, was not necessarily going to be a disadvantage for him, because these are conditions which do not handicap him too much. The team was welded around him, Alessandro who went on the offensive in the final was foreseen. The objective was twofold: to make the race harder and to force the other competitors to discover themselves, but also to make their team-mates work. This is what happened. Kévin attacked in the hard part of the last climb of Mont Poupet. As soon as he went on the offensive at the two kilometers mark, he took ten seconds, and I knew then that he was going to win this Tour du Jura. It’s good to win like that.”
