La Flèche Wallonne, Simon Guglielmi: "a real battle at the foot of the Mur de Huy"

The Flèche Wallonne is a race of wear and tear on the Mur de Huy, not just a simple hill climb race.

Simon Guglielmi

“Discovering the Flèche Wallonne last year by taking the breakaway was a great experience. In addition to the incredible atmosphere when you arrive in the Mur de Huy, it’s always a big fight for position. The circuit around Huy is very tiring. We often remember the hill climb aspect but part of this classic is also played out beforehand. It’s very hard to be placed at the foot of the Mur. This year, I was able to participate in the Itzulia before the Ardennes campaign. It is an ideal preparation for this kind of races with bumps with similar profiles.”

Yvon Caër, sports director

“On the Flèche Wallonne, we will find a terrain that our riders love. Warren’s numerous top 10 finishes in previous editions are a reminder of this. He will have team-mates around him who like these high gradients and this will be an undeniable asset to be well placed at the approach of the final climb of Huy. Nevertheless, I have a little bit of reserve with this new generation that shakes up the standards: we are not sure that there will be some movement before the Mur. We will have to remain vigilant.”
