Vuelta a Castilla y Leon : "we expect a very hard battle"

Having won last year with Matîs Louvel, the Arkéa Samsic team will be at the start of the Vuelta a Castilla y Leon on Wednesday. This year, the race comes back to a stage race format.

Simon Guglielmi

“As many other riders I have just come out of a team training camp in Isola 2000. I took advantage of this month of July to prepare for the upcoming races with a total of 3 weeks spent in altitude. Now I’m really looking forward to putting on my race number! It doesn’t happen often that we have a two-day race format. The first stage, designed for sprinters, is ideal for getting back into the swing of the race and picking up the pace. The second one, more hilly, could suit me well. We have a team that can get good results on each stage.”

Sébastien Hinault, sport director

“The two-day format is unusual. We can envisage a sprint finish on the first day with Dan McLay who will be our best card in this case. For the general classification, there will be a big field at the start. A rider like Simon Guglielmi can do well on a hilly second stage. We expect a very high level with riders who will be fresh and who didn’t race much in July.”
