Vuelta Asturias, Nicolas Edet 3rd overall

5th of the queen stage of this Tour of Asturias 2022, between Malaga and Mijas, Nicolas Edet is now 3rd in the provisional overall classification of this event.

There was a lot of battle at the beginning of the stage before the breakaway took shape. Michel managed to get into it, he rode well all day. The Bike Exchange controlled the stage and didn’t let them get too far. The rhythm was very strong during the whole stage, and it was decided on the last climb. I tried to accompany the group of favourites with the acceleration of the Movistar. I missed a little bit, even if I was not very far. I did my best in the last downhill part. I am now 5th, 3rd overall and there is still a very demanding stage tomorrow.

Arnaud Gérard, sport director

“This stage was positive on an individual level with the 5th, 10th and 11th places at the finish for Nicolas Edet, Kevin Vauquelin and Alessandro. Michel was in a breakaway during a good part of the stage. At the occasion of the climb of the last difficulty, the Arkea-Samsic team was represented by five riders in a peloton that only counted 25 units. This underlines the strength of our team. Nicolas is this evening 3rd of the provisional general classification in the same time as the 4th, so tomorrow we will have to be vigilant regarding the bonifications and Nicolas’ place at the finish. Kevin Vauquelin is 9th overall. Tomorrow, we hope to conclude these three beautiful days of racing with a success”.
