“I had this stage in the back of my mind, I had a lot of fun, I gave everything on this stage of Las Praeres. When I saw the group of favourites coming back mentally it was horrible, but only one passed me. The win is not at the end, but a top 7 is not bad, especially because two days ago the sensations were not at their best. It’s already a good performance with such a finish, and one thing is certain: we will try again. We are all motivated to try to win a stage in this Vuelta. We will not give up, we will fight until the end. The stage today was hard, but there were people on the side of the road, it was crazy, that’s why we ride bikes”.

Sébastien Hinault, sport director

“This morning we would have signed with both hands for Simon to do such a stage. Two days ago he was looking for sensations and today he is in front. Simon enjoyed himself and like every day, there was a big fight to get into the breakaway because all the teams involved in this Vuelta know that they have a chance to go to the end. Simon was very strong and he managed to take it, he is now 7th at the top. It was a good day for him and the Arkea-Samsic team, even if he was overtaken by the leaders on the line. We are going to continue like that in this Vuelta, not giving up anything, moving forward”.
